The barcode option is like a regular paper prescription but comes printed with an electronic barcode. When the patient presents the barcode to the pharmacist, the drug and dosage details are automatically entered into their system, saving time on encoding, and ensuring accuracy.
Halaxy recognises that some patients might not have a smartphone and not everyone may want to receive their medical documents electronically. Using the barcode option allows patients to have their prescriptions issued traditionally, while securing their prescription details at the same time.
Publishing a barcode prescription in Halaxy costs 1 credit.
The process comes in two parts:
Tip
Creating prescriptions in Halaxy comes with Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM), helping reduce the misuse of controlled medicines. When you add a drug to a prescription that is monitored in your state, Halaxy automatically checks the Australian national data exchange and notifies you immediately about whether your patient has a relevant medication history.
For the security of all users and the integration of our health system, practitioners must first follow a few set up requirements to be able to issue barcode prescriptions.
