Disable video reactions for Apple devices

With the release of iOS 17 and macOS 14, Apple introduced visual enhancements for FaceTime calls. This includes animations that are triggered by certain gestures - for example, when someone makes a thumbs-up gesture, fireworks appear in the background.

While these enhancements were built to make communication fun and engaging, they can be inappropriate in the context of a telehealth session. You can disable these reactions for Halaxy Telehealth, Coviu and Use external apps for telehealth.

Note

You can only disable reactions while you are on a telehealth call, so make sure to do this at the start of the appointment. You'll only have to do this once.

Turn off telehealth animations on Mac

  1. While on a telehealth call, on the top right (near the date and time), click the green video camera icon.

  2. In the dropdown, click Reactions.

If the Reactions option is greyed out, the feature is disabled.
