By default, Halaxy allows you to record a patient's gender identity on their patient profile. If needed, you can enable additional gender-related fields in your group settings, namely:

Sex assigned at birth
-
Legal sex
-
Pronouns*
-
Additional gender identity terms*
*Includes ability to create your own options
These additional fields and terms appear on patient profiles and patient intake forms. Gender-related fields also appear on patient reports, allowing you to filter reports for each of these fields.
Tip
Gender and pronouns appear in the Appointment Information panel so you can easily check a patient’s pronouns before an appointment.

Click Settings > General.

Under the Patient Settings section, next to Enable additional gender-related fields, click the
edit icon.

In the pop-up, select which fields you would like to enable and record for patient profiles. The field options include:

Sex assigned at birth
-
Legal sex
-
Pronouns
-

Click Save.
Patient profiles and intake forms for your practice group now include the fields you have enabled.
You can add and remove gender identity terms to be used throughout your practice group. Active terms are listed as available options in Gender and Legal Sex (if enabled) fields on patient profiles and patient intake forms.
To manage gender identity terms:

Click Settings > General.

Under the Patient Settings section, next to Gender identity terms, click View All.

In the pop-up, tick the Active checkbox for the terms you want to include as available options.

(Optional) On the right column, add your own gender identity terms and tick their checkbox to mark them Active.

Click Save.
You can add and remove pronoun options to be used throughout your practice group. Active pronouns are listed as available options in the Pronoun field on patient profiles and patient intake forms.
Before proceeding, make sure to enable Pronouns as an additional gender-related field first.

In the pop-up, tick the Active checkbox for the pronouns you want to include as available options.

(Optional) On the right column, add your own pronouns and tick their checkbox to mark them Active.

Click Save.
Halaxy displays a patient's preferred name everywhere except on invoices.
When writing clinical notes , clinical note templates or communication templates, the dynamic terms [Patient First Name] and [Patient Full Name] uses the preferred name, whereas the dynamic terms [Patient Legal First Name] and [Patient Legal Full Name] uses the legal name.
