Add a Healthcare Provider Identifier - Individual (HPI-I) for a practitioner

The Healthcare Identifiers Service (HI) is a national system with the Australian government for uniquely identifying individuals and healthcare providers. These identifiers help to ensure both patients and practitioners that the correct information is associated with the correct individual at the point of care.

To ensure safe transactions, electronic and paper eRx prescriptions require all levels of healthcare identifiers to be set in Halaxy:

Note

You must first add your practice group or location's HPI-O to be able to add HPI-I for practitioners.

Add HPI-I for a practitioner

  1. Click Personal > Profile.

  2. Under the Healthcare Identifiers section, click Add HPI-I Number.

Caution

The HPI-I search relies on combination of the practitioner's surname, gender and HPI-I number, so please make sure your Halaxy profile details are accurate.
