Add and manage animal types

Who can do this?

  • Practitioners: Veterinarians only

  • Administrators: For veterinary practices only

As a veterinarian, you may be treating different kinds of animals in your practice. For patient profiles, you can select the available preset animal types or you can also add your own.

Create custom animal types

You can add your own animal types and deactivate any types you are not using. Active animal types are available for selection when you add new animal patients.

  1. Click Settings > General.

  2. Under the Patient Settings section, next to Patient Types, click View All. (Depending on your terminology settings, this may be called Animal Types or Pet Types.)

  3. In the pop-up, tick the Active checkbox for the terms you want to include as available options.

  4. (Optional) On the right column, add your own animal types and tick their checkbox to mark them Active.

  5. Click Save.

Your active animal types are applied and are available for selection in your patient profiles.
