If you want patients to respond to reminders, such as to confirm or cancel their attendance, you need to enable two-way responses for SMS reminders.
Tip
With a dedicated phone number, you can send your reminders from the same phone number, allowing patients to identify you and recognise your reminders as authentic messages from your practice.
-
Click Settings > Reminders.
-
For the group or practitioner settings you want to edit, look for Pre-appointments reminder type. Under Actions, click
pencil icon.
-
Tick the checkbox for Two-Way Response, and enter a two-way message which will be added after your SMS message. (Note: the message must ask for a reply from the patient. Accepted replies are Y / Yes / Ok / Okay or N / No.)
-
At the bottom of the pop-up, tick the checkbox if you want to disable reminders to all future-dated appointments, including those you have already scheduled
-
Click Save.
Tip
If your patients aren’t responding, give them a prompt! Edit your SMS reminder template for pre-appointment reminders to include instructions such as "Reply YES to confirm or call to reschedule."
