Referral types are presets for referrals you frequently receive for particular funders. Selecting a referral type automatically adds in the referral details, saving you the effort of having to enter them one by one. By managing your referrals for you, referral types are a time-saving feature that optimises your workflow with greater speed and ease.
A referral type is a template for referrals you frequently use. It can standardise:
-
Referral period: The length of time the referral is valid for.
-
Expiry date: The last day of validity for the referral. This is automatically determined when you enter the referral start date and if a referral period is set.
-
Limit and Coverage: The time, monetary value, fee types, or number of appointments covered by the referral.
-
Fees: The fee/s to link to the referral type, which automatically adds the referral to any patient appointment booked with the linked fee.
-
Clinical Tools or Templates: Any clinical tool or template to link to the referral type, which is automatically added to the patient's clinical notes whenever you make an appointment using the referral type.
When you add a referral under a patient claim and select a referral type, all these details are automatically filled out or generated for you.
Halaxy provides preset referral types that you can import, or you can create your own.
Tip
If a referral has no referral type, Halaxy will apply the referral to any appointment that uses a fee under that funder. Referral types allows you to specify exactly which fees should be used for a particular referral rather than just any fee under the funder.
Halaxy's global database contains a broad range of pre-configured referral types based on different funding bodies, your profession and your country.
