Processing claims individually can be time-consuming, especially if your practice has a large volume of invoices. As an alternative, you can process practitioner and patient claims in batches, saving you both time and effort. The claims are paid in the same way and at the same time as with individually processed claims.
For batched processing, a finance report is used to generate a list of invoices with unprocessed claims.
-
Click Reports > Finance.
-
On the top right, click New Report.
-
In the report, for Report Type, select Unprocessed Medicare.
-
(Optional) Configure any of the following optional filters. To include all in a specific filter, leave blank.
-
Appointment Age: Enter the number of days to include prior to the present date. (Example: If today is Saturday and you enter 5 days, the report will include claims from appointments starting from Monday.)
-
Practitioner: Select the servicing practitioner(s) for the fees with unprocessed claims.
-
Location: Select the location(s) of the fees with unprocessed claims.
-
Patient: Select the patient invoices with unprocessed claims.
-
Type: Select the type(s) of claims you want to process.
-
Assignment of Benefit: Select the status of the assignment of benefit.
-
-
Click Run.
-
A list of invoices with unprocessed claims displays the results. From here, you have the following options:
-
Process all claims: Click Process All in the top right.
-
Process selected claims: Tick the checkboxes for your selected invoices, then click Process Selected at the bottom of the page.
-
Process individual claims: Click the process claim link for each listed invoice you want to process.
-
When you begin to process, the claims will be submitted for processing in the background. You can continue to use Halaxy while this is happening.
When the claims processing is completed, a notification appears in the top right. Click the notification button to view which claims were successfully processed and which ones failed (which you can rectify and reprocess).
