Clinical notes can be scheduled to lock permanently after publishing. A locked clinical note can no longer be reverted, edited or deleted by anyone in the practice, including its owner. This ensures that original patient clinical records are retained.
In case of any addendum or corrections, comments may be appended to locked clinical notes.
Caution
If note locking is disabled, any existing locked notes remain published but can now be reverted, edited and deleted by anyone with the appropriate access.
-
Click Settings > General.
-
Under the Clinical Settings section, next to Clinical note settings, click the pencil icon.
-
In the pop-up, configure the following:
-
Clinical note locking: Select Enabled.
-
Lock schedule after publish: Enter the amount of time after publishing allowed for a clinical note to be reverted and edited before it is permanently locked.
-
-
Click Save.
Whenever you publish a clinical note, it is automatically scheduled to lock according to your note locking settings. As long as the note has not locked yet, you can still revert the note and edit it.
When the clinical note locks, it can no longer be edited by anyone in your practice. At the bottom of the clinical note, you can add comments as addendum.
Note
If you revert a clinical note before it is locked then publish it again, the lock schedule resets to the new publish date.
