Gender Diversity Settings

By default, Halaxy allows you to record a patient's gender identity on their patient profile.

You can enable additional gender-related fields in your Settings > General page, including:

  • sex assigned at birth

  • legal sex

  • pronouns (including the ability to add your own)

  • Additional gender identity terms (including the ability to add your own)

These additional fields and terms appear on patient profiles, patient intake forms and patient reports, allowing you to filter reports for each these fields.

Gender and pronouns also appear in patient search results and the Appointment Information panel so you can easily check a patient's pronouns before an appointment:

Enabling additional gender-related fields

To enable additional gender-related options:

  1. Click Settings > General.

  2. In the Patient Settings section,click the Edit (pencil) icon next to "Enable additional gender-related fields".

  3. In the pop-up, select which fields you would like to enable (sex assigned at birth, legal sex and/or pronouns).

  4. Click Save.

RESULT: Patient profiles and intake forms will now contain fields for the options you selected. Patient reports can now be filtered for the options you selected. Pronouns appear in the Appointment Information panel on your calendar and in patient search results. In addition, you can enter additional gender identity terms and pronouns from the Patient Settings section of Settings > General.

Adding and removing gender identity terms

You can add and remove gender identity terms from the Patient Settings section of your Settings > General page. Active terms can be selected in the Gender and Legal Sex (if enabled) fields of patient profiles and patient intake forms, as well as filtered for in patient reports.

To add or remove gender identity terms:

  1. Click Settings > General.

  2. In the Patient Settings section, find the row labelled "Gender identity terms" and click View All.

  3. The Gender Identity Terms pop-up appears. Click Add a New Gender Identity Term to enter a new term, or tick or untick a checkbox to make a term active. Only Active terms can be selected on patient profiles and intake forms. To delete a term, click the red X icon.

  4. Click Save.

Adding and removing pronouns

You can add and remove pronoun options from the Patient Settings section of your Settings > General page. Active pronouns can be selected in the Pronouns field of patient profiles and patient intake forms, as well as filtered for in patient reports.

  3. The Pronoun Options page appears. Click Add a New Pronoun to enter a new pronoun, or tick or untick a checkbox to make a pronoun active. Only Active pronouns can be selected on patient profiles and intake forms. To delete a pronoun, click the red X icon.
