Online Bookings - Selecting In-clinic, Phone and Online Consultations (Appointment Location Types)

Your patients can specifically book in-clinic, phone consultations or online consultations via your online bookings page based on the fees or appointment types you choose to make available. This is based on the "Appointment Location Type" setting for each fee or appointment type.

Setting the appropriate Appointment Location Type for your fees and appointment types saves you time by automatically setting the location of appointments made via online booking. If you are using custom reminder templates for phone or online consultations, this will automatically use the correct templates and include a link to the telehealth video session if applicable.

The fees and services available on your online bookings page are also categorised based on their Appointment Location Type.

Note

If a patient selects a fee or appointment type with an Appointment Location Type, this will override the default Appointment Location Type you have set for your schedule.

If a fee or appointment type does not have an Appointment Location Type, the location will be set to the default Appointment Location Type in your schedule.

Setting the default Appointment Location Type for a fee

To set the default Appointment Location Type for a fee:

  1. Click Finances > Fees.

  2. Click the fee you wish to edit.

  3. In the Appointment Location Type field, select whether you wish to make the fee an in-clinic consultation, phone consultation, or online consultation.

  4. In the Fee Pricing section, ensure that the fee visibility is set to Public. This determines whether or not the fee appears on your online bookings page (assuming you have made fees public in your Online Bookings Preferences).

  5. Click Save Fee.

RESULT: Whenever a patient books this service using your online bookings page, the appointment will have its location automatically set to your chosen Appointment Location Type.

Tip

If a fee isn't appearing on your online bookings page even though you have made it visible, ensure you have made fees set to Public in your Online Bookings Preferences.

Setting the default Appointment Location Type for an appointment type

To set the default Appointment Location Type for an appointment type:

  1. Click Settings > General.

  2. In the Appointment Settings section, click the Edit (pencil) icon to the right of "Appointment Types". The Edit Appointment Types screen appears.

  3. Find the appointment type you wish to edit. In the Appointment Location Type field, select whether you wish to make the fee an in-clinic consultation, phone consultation, or online consultation.

  4. Ensure the checkbox marked Active is ticked. This determines whether or not the appointment type appears on your online bookings page.

  5. Click Save.

RESULT: Whenever a patient books this service using your online bookings page, the appointment will have its location automatically set to your chosen Appointment Location Type.
